Technology Services

Technology Services at Illinois is the provider of campus-wide computing, networking, storage, communications, and instructional technology services at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Technology Services partners with campus to provide world-class, innovative, cost effective technologies and services that help foster discoveries and innovations from our researchers, transform the teaching and learning experiences of faculty and students, and improve the efficiency and security of the university's processes and data.

Technology Services Help Desk

The Technology Services Help Desk provides phone, email, and walk-in consulting for technology services and other computing needs to students, staff, faculty and other affiliates of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

Walk-in support is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. 

Phone and Email support are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM and from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Technology Services Computer Labs

Technology Services maintains a number of computer labs across campus, sometimes referred to as Instructional Computing Services (ISC) Labs. General use computer labs provide reliable computer and printing access to students, faculty, and staff. Classroom labs also provide instructors with reliable computer access, current software, on-site help, audiovisual equipment, and collaboration stations.

The Career Center

The Career Center provides a variety of services to help students evaluate major and career options, develop job and internship preparation skills, prepare for graduate school, and much more.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center provides services that are designed to help students reach a balanced Illinois experience, ranging from various counseling services, educational programming initiatives, training programs, outreach and consultation services, and a wide variety of self help materials.

Disability Resources & Educational Services (DRES)

DRES serves as the University’s designated office for coordinating services for students with disabilities. DRES provides a wide range of services to students with documented disabilities, from adapted testing to campus accessibility issues to assisted living and accessible transportation.

Librarian Office Hours

Librarians and graduate students from throughout the University Library system provide office hours to assist students with various aspects of the research process, including:

  • General help using library resources
  • Assistance in selecting appropriate resources for your topic
  • Guidance in using advanced techniques in database searching
  • In-depth term paper research counseling
  • Assistance with brief writing questions
  • Help with citations

During office hours, you will have an opportunity to receive assistance in a less open setting than the library reference desk. Office hours are held in the Undergraduate Library's Consultation Corner, next to the Writers Workshop on the Upper Level. 

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 1 PM - 5 PM, and 6 PM - 8 PM

McKinley Health Center

McKinley Health Center provides routine medical care to Illinois students. Some of the services provided by McKinely include 24-hour Dial-A-Nurse, pharmacy services, mental health counseling and treatment, travel exams and inoculations, a Women's Health Clinic, Health Resource Centers, Health Education, and visits with a primary care provider.

Media & Reserve Services

Located in the Undergraduate Library, Media and Reserve Services provides non-print materials to be viewed in-house or in the classroom, facilitates access to print and electronic reserve material, and maintains the principle audio-visual collection for the University Library. Residence Hall Libraries

The residence hall library system maintains a vast collection of items across multiple locations on campus. This includes monographs, periodicals, media materials, and leisure reading, plus a broad diversity and social identity section. Locations include:

Writers Workshop

The Writer’s Workshop provides an opportunity for Illinois students, faculty, and staff from all disciplines and levels to discuss their writing with consultants who are both experienced writers and teachers of writing.

Consulting services are available either by appointment or on a walk-in basis. Sessions usually last between 30 and 60 minutes. Consultants will work with students on any part of the writing process, from pre-writing to revising to helping interpret graded papers.

The Writer’s Workshop's primary location is at the Undergraduate Library, and satellite services are available at the Ikenberry Dining Hall, Burrill Hall, Grainger Library, and the Pennsylvania Avenue Residence Hall.
