Each semester, qualifying DGS students are invited to nominate themselves to become full James Scholars.
In early January or August, current students with a qualifying Illinois cumulative GPA of 3.8 will receive a secure message inviting them to self-nominate into the James Scholar program. Transfer students should contact email@example.com to discuss eligibility.
Eligible students are notified by secure message regarding the first steps to complete the self-nomination process. To complete the process, you will need to review the James Scholar requirements PowerPoint and two short essay questions. Information will be made available on Illinois' Compass for eligible nominees through an open learning classroom. Your application materials will be reviewed prior to admission; application is competitive. Please make sure to complete all steps fully by the deadline.
(Note: Students are responsible for checking their Illinois emails for official university messages. If your internet or email access is not reliable over break periods, you may want to consider checking compass or notifying firstname.lastname@example.org)
